Onwards and upwards for Villarreal after they secured three points at home to Real Valladolid. The hosts were ahead after just seven minutes thanks to Nilmar's strike. Nilmar in fine form having scored for Brazil against England last week. It was the Brazilian who made ti 2-0 Villarreal on 48 minutes before fan favourite Giusseppe Rossi made it 3-0 on 57 minutes.
The visitors pulled one back on the hour-mark thanks to Diego. Villarreal move up to 11th.
