Barcelona 1-0 Real Madrid

The biggest game of the season saw Barcelona edge Real Madrid 1-0 to reclaim top spot in the table. Real Madrid welcomed back Cristiano Ronaldo to the starting XI and opted to leave both Raúl and Karim Benzema on the bench. The hosts had Lionel Messi back but Zlatan Ibrahimovic was on the bench.
The game had chances with both sides wasting but both keepers had to be alert with both Valdés and Casillas making vital saves.
The goal came from a cross that was volleyed home from close range by sub Zlatan Ibrahimovic on 56 minutes. Barcelona had Sergio Busquets sent-off for a 2nd yellow ten minutes later. Real Madrid chasing the game had Lassana Diarra sent-off late on for a 2nd yellow as Barcelona kept Real at bay to claim the win in the first Clásico of the season. Barcelona are away to Xerez on Wednesday as they look to collect three further points.
