Getafe put in a solid performance as they brushed Xerez aside. It was the visitors who found the first breakthrough when Aythami made it 1-0 Xerez. But Xerez's afternoon was to get worse from there on. Roberto Soldado levelled on 45 minutes and almost immediately converted a penalty to send Getafe 2-1 up at the break.
Former Real Madrid and QPR star Daniel Parejo made it 3-1 on 57 minutes before Roberto Soldado completed his hat-trick two minutes later. Casquero rounded off the scoring with a fifth goal on 61 minutes. Xerez now bottom after this result.
