The league continues today with the rest of the fixtures to be played. Having seen Both Real Madrid and Sevilla take advantage of Barcelona's slip last night the attention focuses towards the bottom half and the European hopefuls. Villarreal face Tenerife in a game that the home side need to win if they are to begin to move upwards again. Other games see Málaga host Valencia and Sporting Gijón go to Deportivo.
Espanyol v Real Valladolid: 17:00:
Last week Carlos Kameni was in top form to keep Sevill at bay and he will need a repeat performance to keep Real Valladolid out this afternoon. Valladolid were in rampent mood last week hitting Deportivo 4-0. A game that if the visitors win will go 12th.
Real Mallorca v Racing Santander: 17:00:
The high-flying islanders will have a chance to go 4th for a couple of hours should they put visiting Racing to bed. But Racing who conceded a last minute equiliser at home to Osasuna last week will be out to make this trip worthwhile.
Real Zaragoza v Almería: 17:00:
Last week saw Real hit for six by Barcelona. Although not expecting to be hit for the same this week, Almería will be going north in search of three points. Real were undone by the pace of Barcelona and will need to look-out for the pace of Almería.
Villarreal v Tenerife: 17:00:
A massive game for Villarreal as they look to kick-start their season. Currently 18th the yellow submarine need a win to lift themselves out. Tenerife make the trip and will be looking to get three points to move into the top half.
Málaga v Valencia: 19:00:
Valencia have the ability to challenge for the champions league spots and with them visiting bottom side Málaga, it looks like on paper a routine victory. But Málaga can cause a shock and get the three points that could move them off the bottom.
Deportivo v Sporting Gijón: 21:00:
The final game of the weekend sees Deportivo, puhing for a Europa League place host Sporting Gijón, buoyed by last week's draw with Real Madrid. Thumped 4-0 away last week Deportivo will need the fans to get behind them against a tough Sporting side.
